AI is going to change sales a lot, but it is not a clean replacement for human sellers. The parts most likely to be automated are the repetitive ones: lead scoring, basic outreach drafts, call summaries, CRM updates, and routine follow-up.
The parts that still need a person are the parts people buy from people for. That includes asking the right discovery questions, earning trust, handling objections, navigating a buying committee, and closing a messy deal when the answer is not obvious. McKinsey and Salesforce both point in the same direction: AI is most useful when it frees reps from low-value work so they can spend more time selling.
So the practical answer is no, not all at once. AI will shrink the amount of manual work in sales and raise the bar for human reps. The reps who win will be the ones who use AI to move faster while still doing the human parts well.
