Quantum computing uses qubits, which can represent more than one state at once through quantum effects like superposition and entanglement. That is different from a normal bit, which is either 0 or 1.
That makes quantum computers promising for some specialized problems, especially where the system being studied is itself quantum in nature. It does not mean every quantum computer is automatically faster than every normal computer; the advantage depends on the problem, the hardware, and how well the qubits can be controlled.
So the cleanest description is this: a quantum computer is less like a faster laptop and more like a specialized scientific instrument that may become very powerful for narrow jobs.
