Current cosmology says the universe is mostly dark energy, then dark matter, with ordinary matter making up only a small fraction.
In NASA’s numbers, ordinary matter is about 4.9% of the universe, dark matter is about 26.8%, and dark energy is about 68.3%. So the stuff we can actually see and touch is the smallest slice by far.
That does not mean the answer is settled forever. It means the best measurements we have right now point to a universe dominated by things we can detect through gravity and expansion rather than direct light.
So if you picture the universe as a pie chart, the visible slice is tiny, the invisible gravitational slice is much larger, and the expansion-driving slice is largest of all. That is the current model NASA uses because it matches the observations we have, not because anyone can hold those ingredients in a hand.
