The most common example is lactose intolerance, where the body produces insufficient lactase enzyme to digest the sugar in dairy products, leading to bloating, gas, cramps, and diarrhea. Intolerance symptoms are generally gradual, depend on the amount of food consumed, and are never life-threatening. By learning to differentiate between these two responses, you can make safer, more informed choices about your diet and medical care.
