How much do I spend per month?
Short answerAdd up one full month of transactions, then split them into a few buckets.

Add up every card, bank, and cash transaction from the last 30 days. If your pay cycle is uneven, use the last full month of bills instead of a random 30-day window.

Then group it into categories like housing, food, transport, debt, subscriptions, and extras so you can see where the money is going. The CFPB’s budget worksheet does the same thing because a number by itself is less useful than a pattern.

Once the categories are visible, the real answer is usually not “I spend too much on everything.” It is “one or two categories are doing the damage.” That is the point where the plan becomes useful: you can trim a repeat charge, cap a category, or move one bill to a different date instead of trying to fix the whole month at once.
