A solar halo is the pale ring you sometimes see around the Sun when thin high clouds contain tiny ice crystals. Light enters those crystals, bends, and leaves at a predictable angle that creates the circle.
The most common version is the 22-degree halo. It is a neat atmospheric optics effect, but it is not magic and it is not a sign that the sky is about to do something dramatic by itself.
If you notice one, the atmosphere is telling you there is high, thin cloud cover overhead. That is the visible part of a lot of very ordinary physics.
