Stars twinkle because their light passes through layers of Earth’s atmosphere that are always moving and changing temperature. Those shifting layers bend the light slightly different ways from moment to moment, so the star appears to shimmer.
Planets usually twinkle less because they look like small disks rather than point sources. That gives the atmosphere less chance to make the light seem to jump around.
So the twinkle is not happening inside the star. It is happening on the way to your eyes.
