How can I let go of perfectionism?
Short answerThe fastest way is to replace 'perfect' with 'done, useful, and good enough' and practice finishing things before they feel ideal.

Letting go of perfectionism starts with admitting that perfectionism is not the same thing as high standards. High standards help you do good work. Perfectionism turns every task into a test of your worth, which is why it so often feeds anxiety and avoidance.

A useful shift is to define β€œdone” before you start. Decide what good enough looks like, then stop there. If you wait until the work feels flawless, you will usually spend extra energy polishing details that do not matter to the outcome.

The second move is to practice finishing imperfectly on purpose. Send the email, turn in the draft, leave the room with the dishes still a little unfinished. That teaches your brain that imperfection is survivable.

If perfectionism is bleeding into work, relationships, sleep, or your ability to start things at all, it is worth treating it like a real mental health issue, not a personality quirk.
