A trendy pickle-flavored drink can be fermented, but fermentation alone does not guarantee probiotic value. If the product has live microbes, the strains, amount, and storage all matter.
That is why so many “gut health” drinks end up being mostly flavor and branding. They may still be enjoyable, but enjoyable is not the same thing as clinically useful.
If someone wants the probiotic angle, look for a product that clearly says what cultures it contains and whether those cultures are alive at purchase. If they just want a tangy drink, a tangy drink is fine. No need to dress it up as a miracle.
